Darryl is Ready for a Forever Home to Call His Own

Our big silly boy Darryl is ready for a forever home to call his own. He is 2 1/2 years old, up to date on vaccines, has been neutered, has a microchip. He weighs 88 pounds and according to his vet is underweight and could stand to have a few extra desserts each night after dinner. Darryl is a bit of an independent kind of guy. He loves his people but he does not have to be in their laps 24/7. He is happy to just hang out near his peeps. He enjoys going for car rides and is very good riding in his fosters' van. He is crate trained and sleeps in his crate at night. This is to keep that boy out of trouble, you know these young ones, they can get into trouble in a split second. He is learning all of those pesky commands, he doesn't have them all down yet. He was living outside until he met his foster humans, so that means not house-trained. Since being neutered no more accidents in the house, now house-trained. He paces by the door when he needs to take care of business. Darryl is a little unsure of people at first but if you give him extra special tasty treat, he warms up quickly. Once he decides you are okay, he likes pets and will give you a hug. He prefer no hands above or from the top of his head. He loves being outside in the backyard, he has recently decided to help his fosters re-landscape and has added a hole or two to the lawn. Darryl is a work in progress in the leash walk department. He is also learning about the big world, it is all new to him, he can get nervous or skittish with new sounds. He will stop walking and check it all out before moving on. Darryl can be mouthy, he forever family will need to keep working on this with him. For this reason, no young humans please. Teenagers should be no problem. He was professionally groomed recently and he did just fine, no issues. Brushing him is super easy, he just stands there and soaks up all of the attention. We were told he lived with other dogs prior to moving to his foster home. We do not know about cats. Overall, Darryl is one special boy, he is a great Berner. He will make a great family companion if you are looking for a dog that wants to be loved and hugged. His foster says he is one smart cookie and he is full of potential. Darryl is located in Charlotte, North Carolina. We do not transport our Berners, adopter should plan to travel to Charlotte to pick up Darryl at his foster home. His adoption fee is $450.00. If interested in Darryl please fully complete and sign our adoption application and return to: info@bfwrescue.org.
