Our dear sweet 15 month old female Bernese Mountain Dog, May, is ready for a forever home to call her own. Maya is very sweet and loving. She loves to snuggle. She has been slow to warm up to men, but just this week she has been seeking out affection from her Foster Dad. She is sassy, full of spunk and full of life. She is easy to love and gives you a lot to love about her. She is like any other young Berner, she is learning and needs a forever family to continue to work with her. She is up to date on vaccines, spayed and has a microchip.
She is potty trained!! She thrives on a routine and once she knows the routine she is very pleased with herself. She is very food motivated, this really helps with positive reinforcement training techniques. She has not found a toy that she does not love! She will destroy your socks but your shoes, oh your shoes, she will love them so much she must rearrange them daily.
She would do much better in a home where someone is home more than not. No cats or any small animals please, Maya has one strong prey drive. No small children please. Like most young Berners, she is mouthy. Her family would need to continue to work with her on this. Teenagers should be just fine. She would prefer not to share a home with other female dogs, she would do best with a male that is at least 3 years old, confident and tolerant.
If you are looking for a beautiful young sweet Berner, Maya is for you. She is a work in progress like any other Berner her age. She has a few quirks but most of these things can be overcome with continued consistent training.
We do not transport our Berners. Adopters should plan to pick up Maya from her foster home in Johnstown, Ohio. Adoption fee is $450.00. If interested please complete our adoption application and submit to: info@bfwrescue.org.
